5 out of 5 stars for 300 bills it is awesome workstation   January 30, 2010

For 300 bucks it is an awesome little workstation. I grabbed one of these for a client that I network for. They use most of the computers for web access and Terminal services. So basicly they don't need a fast cpu or high end graphics card. They just need a workstation to be able to connect to the server via terminal services. I even upgraded to win7 pro to get the Virtual Win XP Mode. So they can use some of their older programs that don't run on the new win7. Works great so far and is 10000 times faster than the celeron and P4 it replaced. I doubt this is anything more than a web surfing and microsoft office using machine. Maybe some online games too. Still nice little computer for the money. Hard for me to even build one that cheap.

Thanks
Brent

The last couple of months, I have heard my wife complain about how slow her computer is. I asked my son to look up the computers that would make me a hit with Mom. I decided on this computer because of my son's input and other reviews that I have read. This computer really out does itself in performance and more than meets the needs of my wife who plays some games but loves Facebook and emails. My daughter set the computer up in order to surprise my wife for when she got home from work. So this was easily setup and runs great. Good Price and the shipment arrived on time.Compaq Presario CQ5320F Desktop PC (Black)

Coming from a Dell Precision 320 Workstation to this was definitely something to get used to. As most of the programs that I run will work on Win 7, I didn't need to worry about getting virtual XP. The only drawback that I have for this computer is the graphics capability, which for me isn't a huge issue, not enough to dock it a star, as I had a feeling that this would be something that I needed to upgrade anyway.

One caveat if you are a gamer and want to add a new video card in, you will more than likely need to upgrade your power supply also, as it's only rated for 275 Watts.

5 out of 5 stars The best and fastest computing desktop ever bought!   March 11, 2010

This is by far the best pc I've bought in the past ten years. Recently, I got rid of my Dell--it's getting slow and somewhat problematic. After some diligent search, I bought the Acer AX1301-U1312 with triple core, 4GB Ram, Nvidia Geforce 9200 with 256MB, 750 GB sata hardrive, ...seemingly a great bargain plus the excellent reviews. However, the first one I got had a defective Optical drive, the second one occasionally had nonresponding problem and made pretty loud noise when AND after burning dvds--the second one has no hardware problem but there maybe some configuration or program conflicts (no idea) that caused the not non-frequent freezing. Finaly, decided to buy this Compaq for both its price and good reviews. It turned out to be a complete satisfaction!! :) Couldn't be happier. It runs even faster than the triple core Acer. I have stayed away from Compaq for almost a decade because of my first bad experience with it. Now they have definitely improved their product quality.

It plays HD video flawlessly. Very light for its size. Quiet when running regular programs. A lot of space inside the unit which makes hardware upgrade easy.

Things I do NOT like: many useless programs, 6 USB pors--4 back and 2 front, dvd drive Eject button is awkward--when the tray is open, it blocks access to the button. You have to slip your finger under the tray to press close.

Overall, it is a great value!

PROS: excellent price, quality product and capabilities for a basic PC, HP customer service was MORE THAN extremely helpful as to set up and moving the "cloned" XP files from my old/dead Pavilion PC to this PC w/ Windows 7 Home Premium (remote access is a really nice thing as Windows 7 Home Premium does not have virtual XP capability, HP tech spent a couple of hours doing the migration and probably saved me from making some serious errors as well as a couple of days of time through his knowledge of the Windows 7 OS), have come to really appreciate the Windows 7 OS <><><> CONS: like everybody else, the open/close button for the optical drive tray is a bit aggravating as to location, a better quality "touch sensitive" tray would resolve the door closure issue, having Firewire & eSATA ports installed would also have been nice, although installing an eSATA port is a really quick and simple task, keyboard letter keys could have been a bit more defined as to shape/size with a little more spacing between them (I keep hitting "Caps Lock" when typing the letter "A") - no PS/2 port for older keyboard installation <><><> FINAL COMMENT: I like it, I'm happy with it, it does the job it was purchased for
